The Sylvan Lake Jazz Festival is another event you won't want to miss, and Red Deer's Canada Day festivities are a highlight of the year, drawing thousands to Bower Ponds for a day and evening filled with music, dance, ethic foods and a fireworks display that swells attendees' hearts with pride. In July, Westerner Days draw tens of thousands to experience the thrill of the midway, the many and varied exhibits and the performances. The Red Deer Independent Film Series runs fall through spring at the Uptown Theatre. Some of the films have been internationally acclaimed, but all of them prove to challenge perceptions of the world. |
